Got your attention? Good, let's talk.  I love that so many people want to be healthy and are taking steps to live better.  With chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, cancer, various autoimmune disorders on the rise it's imperative that we all do whatever we can to keep our mind, body, and spirit functioning optimally but herein lies the (potential) problem.  I often get asked my opinion of this plan or that especially the ones that...

One of the best gifts you can give to yourself is a meal you made with your own hands. In fact one of the best gifts you can give to anyone is a gift you prepared. There is something affirming when we cook a meal and others not only eat it but like it. In that moment we are providing the nourishment that will sustain them another day. Yeah, cooking is really that deep…and sacred. Why do think a recipe passed down from a dear departed ancesto...

When it comes to guacamole, I am somewhat of a purist. It has to have lime (not lemon), red onion (not yellow), and cilantro (parsley does not belong here). Have I made it without this or that? Yes, but it’s not the same. Up until a few years ago, I did not even like guacamole. Every time I had it, it was a bland, pasty glob- no flavor, no color, and no salt!  A few years ago a mother contacted me about her pre-school aged daughter's "serious skin issues".  She told me her daughter scratched her neck, back and arms all day long.  She said she tried all the lotions out there for dry skin and eczema and nothing was helping.  She asked if I thought this could be related to her diet and any help I could provide would be greatly appreciated.  It was no surprise to me that the products she tried did no...

I also encourage you to complete a 3-day food diary tobetter understand what you are actually consuming.

Here are a few ideas:

Losing weight is as simple as burning more calories than you consume or eating fewer calories than you burn.  Then why do so many people struggle with losing it?  Because, there is an art (and science) to losing weight.  It’s highly personal and a unique approach is required for everyone.  That’s why so many fad diets don’t work long-term for the masses.  Low carb, no carb, fat-free, high protein…there are some people who do well with these...

It never fails- every year we vow to lose weight, get healthy, eat cleaner, and banish anything with more than 100 calories per serving. We plan, we track, and we strategize because on January 1st all is forgiven. All of our past attempts and mistakes with dieting doesn’t matter. This time we’ll make it. This time we will succeed! One…month…later…it is February and we didn’t only fall off the wagon, the wagon was in a head on collision with...
